Variable Translating Geometry Plate Rolls can be used for heavy, medium and thick plate applications. The top roll is horizontally oriented, while the lower rolls move up/down. The lower roll movement increases the offset distance from top roll, and consequently gives rise to mechanical advantage when bending. They can be adjusted to work in a similar way to single pinch, double pinch or pyramid-style machines.
Initial Pinch, Single Initial Pinched Plate Rolls are typically for lighter capacity applications. They may be electro-mechanically operated or hydraulic. The upper pinch roll remains in its fixed position. The lower pinch roll, however, can be moved to pinch the material. The third roll (the rolling roll), is also adjustable. They are cheaper, but they can be more labor-intensive in a manufacturing setting.
Vertical Format Plate Rolls can be of nearly any geometry, double pinch, single pinch or pyramid. Vertical rolls are most often used for rolling large diameters and can be advantageous when used in the field for storage tank production. Carell offers automated Vertical Tank Production Systems which are fed from coil stock and can include vertical sheet cutoff and automatic vertical seam welding among other options. These Systems can be used in-house or in the field and increase production output while reducing labor input
Select the plate roll that is most efficient for your job and requires the least intervention. The 2-Roll machines can only be used for one type of job and are not suitable for use in a job shop. There are many options for initial pinch, 3-Roll pyramid and 4-Roll machines in most job shops and plate production plants. An initial pinch, or 3 Roll Double Pinched Design can be chosen for simple round sections. However, a Variable Translating Geometry machine or 4-Roll machine with CNC controls should be used for complex geometry. These choices are easy to make:
Plate Rolls are designed for long machine life and minimal maintenance. Plate rolls are available with capacities of 20 gauge up to 6 inches. Carell offers unmatched flexibility in its standard models, which can be customized to meet any plate rolling needs. You can build them to meet any specific rolling requirement, such as shorter or larger lengths (20 to 24 inches), custom roll cameras, slotted rolls to plate with flangeslipsribs or patterns for corrugated, vertical, and other requirements.
Anyone looking for bending, rolling, or welding solutions to their steel fabrication business would be well served by Gulf States Saw & Machine Co. We are excited about the future and we know who to call for all our equipment needs.
All three rolls are driven with a combination of planetary gear boxes and hydraulic motors providing superior torque, speed and distribution of powerful forces to pre bend and roll the toughest of materials. All of our plate rollers have a strengthened machine body constructed of stress-relieved high-yield steel, strengthened bearing guidance system, super strong brakes and rolls machined with optimum crowning. Learn more standard features and about all the optional equipment available within.
There are two types of motion for the plate rolling machine: main and auxiliary. The main movement is the movement of the upper, lower and diagonal rollers that allow the machine to turn and bend flat plates. This completes its operation task. The auxiliary movement includes loading, unloading and lifting the upper roller and the lifting and turning of headstocks while rolling the plate.
Ever wonder how the fuel tank trailer that you saw while filling up your car with gas is made? What about those huge pipes that you saw on...
The material is drawn through the pinched roll and then over the pushing roll, creating an arc.
Three-roll Initial Pinch Bending Machine - This machine can be divided into two types: symmetrical and unsymmetrical. Three rollers are used to initial pinch bend the machine. All three rolls of this machine move and tilt. There is also one pressing top roll as well as two pressing siderolls. The top roll rotates in the straight plane and side rolls on the flat. During the rolling process the top toll pushes between the side rolls the metal plate. They can roll various thicknesses, diameters, and types of cylinders. This is the main advantage of the three-tolls.

The roll is placed in a pitching place with the workpiece. Once the material is deep-seated between 2 rolls, a 3rd and 4th roll is used to push it to a first bend.
Roll forming There are three main processes: 4 rollers, 3 rollers and 2 rollers, each of which has as different advantages according to the desired specifications of the output plate.
3 roll variable axis plate bending machines are used for bending medium to thick plates. They are very precise and easy to use. There are advantages by using this system where the two side rolls move horizontally – left and right, while the top roll moves up and down.
2T BEND (TWO-T BEND) The inside radius of the bend is equal to 2x the metal thickness.
